The project involves the detection of the DAB+ digital radio signal (Eureka 147 standard) on the national motorway sections under Autostrade per l’Italia’s responsibility, in both directions (3,000 linear kilometres in total), with the aim of verifying the presence of national and regional MUXes and the content (radio stations) carried in them.
The project took place in two phases:
- Phase 1: a test campaign to detect the DAB+ digital radio signal on all motorway portions of the Liguria region (the motorway sections of the region were measured four times round trip for a total of approximately 5000 km).
- Phase 2: a measurement campaign to detect the DAB+ digital radio signal on all national motorway sections operated by the company Autostrade per l’Italia S.p.A. (the entire network was measured twice, round trip for a total of approx. 16,800 km).
Radio signal detection was carried out with field and quality measurements along motorway sections, including tunnels, according to current standards and practices. The measurements were collected on the move and were carried out with a mobile vehicle equipped with specialised tools. At the end of the survey campaign, a final document was produced containing the measurement results obtained through the validation and processing of the collected data.
